I'm Working on It!

So we all have something to work on and I admit that I am an official blog slacker! I don't really care to find the time because I'm trying to eat up every minute with my baby before I have to go back to work. However, I am trying to turn a new leaf and am slowly going to play catch up. Be patient as I do because I know that all this is old news. However, I want to record it on here because this is my family history. Plus, hopefully if I can work really hard and catch up then we will get up to date posts!

Woah! How time flies!

Okay, so I figured I'd better post because pretty soon my little bundle of joy will be here and I won't be posting for a little. I cannot believe that my baby is due in a little over a week. We are extremely excited to meet the little guy but I have to say I'm a little nervous at the unknown. Unknown as to the time, the pain, the labor, the delivery.

Unfortunately for me over the last week or so I have developed a rather serious itch. My belly was itching mostly, but I assumed it was because the stretch marks. Which I thought I was doing great a few light ones on the left side and only 2 on the right side. But alas, within a week they spread and darkened and also decided to develop into a rash. So now, I have little red bumps all over my tummy with my stretch marks and nothing seems to help. Look at the bright side- I'm sure when he is in my arms I will forget all about the itching.

Well, then last week my ankles and calves started itching really bad also. I figured they're stretching from swelling so I won't worry about. I called the Dr on Monday and he said he wasn't too worried either. Well by today, I have little red rashy bumps up and down my legs, my thighs, my arms, my back, and my belly. The Dr says he is worried it could be ICP which is intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. Which is what I had worried about when I called on Monday. Basically, the test takes too long to get back (a week) and since I'm due in a week and 3 days its not worth it. So he is going to monitor me closer because it could be risky to the baby.

I'm going to be a mom sometime within a week and 2 days!!!!! I can't believe it! I have really enjoyed being pregnant (well now minus the itch, but at least its only the last 10 days)! I love feeling my little boy stretch and move inside of me. I can't wait to meet him and see what he looks like and his personality. Well, anyhow I will post a few belly pics tomorrow and maybe a nice rash picture too. If anyone has ideas for getting rid of the itch let me know.

Lyns, we're so excited for you guys. I hope all goes well. It is high-anxiety time wondering about the unknown of when labor will start and the pain and the pushing, etc. You'll do great. You are a true woman. As far as the itching goes, I've never heard of that happening. Just keep moisturizing your legs and belly, maybe that will control the itching. Cold washcloths, ice help too. All the best, sweetie. You'll do fine and then comes the real work. Love you!

Lyns, you're thinking backwards--you are going to be posting MORE often once that baby is here right?? I mean, we all want to see him, especially me! Sorry about the rash, I'm not good with rashes or I'd have some suggestions for ya. I guess you've probably tried moisturizer. Can't wait to hear that you've had him!!!

I HATE PREGNANY ITCH! I'm glad your doctors are ontop of it. I had it with Jakob and was finally induced because I was getting so weary and exausted from the lack of sleep. I them started in with it with the twins. That's when I found out it has to do with stress on the liver. It's bile in the blood stream. My suggestion is watch things REALLY close and don't be afraid to be induced if you need to. Especially if the doc says the baby will be okay. Listen to your mother heart, don't question calling on the doctor if you feel concern. Trust Me! Just take control of yourself and the baby and let the doctor know what you need! (yesm there is a story or two behind that controlling attitude:) Good luck!! OH! I took A LOT of cold baths, cold wash cloths and ice, and benedryl cream. But I don't know that the cream really did much. Drink a lot of water. I'll try to think if there is anything else and let you know.

I looked back in my studies and remembered that I am going to use this herb during my next pregnancy to help with the ICP:

My friend had something similar (itching) but it was called PUPPPS. Some funky syndrome in pregnancy and the only way to make it go away is to deliver the baby. She said once her baby was born, it went away! Good news, its almost over :)

Good luck with the labor and delivery. Just remember it will all be worth it...you get a baby after all of your hard work (and its called labor for a reason ;) it is hard work) but worth it!

My co-worker got an itchy-rash right before she delivered, too. Doesn't sound fun. Can't wait to see your cute bundle of joy! He's gonna be adorable and you're going to be a great mom. Good luck with labor and delivery.

I had PUPS during the last trimester when I was pregnant with my 2nd. I had itchy spots all over me too! Hundreds of itchy spots! It was miserable. I covered myself with calomine lotion everyday I wanted to cry. Then it magically went away after he was born. I feel for ya!

Lyns, I'm worried about you. I talked to another NICU mom that got PUPs and had to deliver her babies way early because it was really dangerous for her. I guess it's good that you're at the end, but take care of yourself and make sure the doctor is taking care of you too. I got a full body rash once and calamine lotion helped a little, so try that. I can't wait to see that baby! You better be blogging (look at the hipocrit talking) because it's the best way for me to be able to enjoy. :)

Lynsie, I am so excited. Time really does fly. I can't wait to hear that he's here. I keep checking to see if you have blogged about having him. I hope all goes well for you. The last weeks were the worst and I never experienced what you have. Good Luck.
