I'm Working on It!

So we all have something to work on and I admit that I am an official blog slacker! I don't really care to find the time because I'm trying to eat up every minute with my baby before I have to go back to work. However, I am trying to turn a new leaf and am slowly going to play catch up. Be patient as I do because I know that all this is old news. However, I want to record it on here because this is my family history. Plus, hopefully if I can work really hard and catch up then we will get up to date posts!

Prelude to an Almost Perfect Day

So let me start by saying that Ezra and I both celebrated our birthdays this past week. It is fun to be able to celebrate them together! Well, since I'm already so late in getting around to it I will just say that our celebrations lasted about a week. We went to dinner at Hash House a Go Go because we had a free birthday entree! Lets just say we didn't need it...we both had a ton of leftovers. My dinner could have fed 10! Here are some pictures to prove it!

Yes the plate is bigger than my body! That pancake has to be at least 18 inches in diameter! We should have taken a before and after shot! Alas, we didn't think that far! It was good the next morning- fuel for the long and hot field day!

Ezra got chicken & biscuits! He couldn't finish it either! I have to say I really love Hash House, except they don't have regular ranch. They only have special cucumber ranch. Ugh!

After dinner, we went to find a purple shirt for Ezra for field day. Who would have thought finding a purple shirt for a man would be so difficult! Walmart-no! We bought purple paint to paint on a white shirt. However, I made him stop at Target...we found one finally...a v-neck but it was purple!

Then we got home and Ezra gave me my card and present. He was very sweet. He made a little poem on the computer with clip art. (I'm pretty sure he stole the poem from a card off the internet but that's okay). He gave me a really beautiful and thoughtful card and then the Willow Tree figurines Cherish and Happiness. Cherish is the pregnant mom and happiness says "To laugh, sing, dance, and...CREATE" and he said that I've done all those things. (He also said he had got it for Mother's Day but forgot). I love them! They will add to my collection beautifully! My husband is wonderful and always trying to make me happy! I appreciate all he does for me. He is always willing to clean and help. He makes me feel like a Queen and I hope I let him know how much I appreciate him! I love you honey! Thanks for making my day special!

Also, at school my wonderful friend Cami made me cinnamon rolls for breakfast-DELICIOUS! During our prep time she made me my own pizookie because I have sworn off BJ's during pregnancy! It was delicious also. Then we took our students that had finished their work on a pirate's treasure hunt! Arggh! You'd think after the day I would be 20 pounds heavier! I felt it! A couple teachers had seen us enjoying both of our deliciously goodness snacks and laughed since we are both pregnant-thinking we are just craving junk-they told us we had an excuse. We told them we'd go back to eating vegetables the next day. :) This is the prelude to the almost perfect day coming shortly to a blog near you!

Moms are the Best!

Okay so Moms in general are the best, but my mom-I know I'm biased- is the absolute best. I will give you all credit, because hopefully, you all think you're mom is the absolute best and I think that's what Heavenly Father would want us to do. This isn't a "my mom's better than yours" competition, but since it's my blog- I'm entitled to my opinion that my mom is the most amazing and special because she is mine! I hear all the time from many that I am just like my mom and that we resemble each other most too. I will take them all as compliments. If I am like my mom I am succeeding at something.

I can't even put into words how much I love and admire and respect my mother. However, I'm going to try to get some of it across. My mother has all the qualities that a wonderful mother should have: love, respect, kindness, slow to anger, spiritual, emotional, friend, confidante, listener, trustworthy, responsible, strength, unselfish, generous, grateful and many more. My mom can make me feel better no matter how crappy the day is going or whats going on in my life. She has a mother's perspective and a mother's love that extends further than she will ever know. Her attitude and love always shines through. My mother is not only my example, my guide, my mom, my cook (growing up), my housekeeper (again growing up and when I'm home), but more importantly she is my FRIEND, and she is one of the best friends I could ever ask for! Along with my sisters who also deserve a salute on Mother's Day. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family but better than family such wonderful friends in them! Thank you so much mom for living life the way you have and being an example and a friend. I cannot express how much I love you or all the things you've taught me.

As a mother-to-be I thank you for teaching me things that a good mother does (even though none of us are perfect-you are pretty close). I'm sure that not everything I will do as a mother will be how you raised us, but if I could be half the mother you are, I would feel successful as a mother. If I can raise happy children who love eachother and help eachother I will be following in your example. If I can raise children in the Gospel and teach them to pray, read, and love the Lord I will be following in your example. It scares me sometimes that perhaps I will fall short of my responsibilities, but at least I have an amazing example to follow. Thank you for living a worthy life and marrying a wonderful priesthood holder. Thank you for keeping our family Eternal! Thank you for all that Mom and much more! I love love love love you!

I can't wait to be a mom and make you a Nana for the 7th time. I hope I can do as great a job as you!
Things my mom taught me in no particular order:

  • How to pray
  • How to listen
  • That its okay to cry
  • How to sew
  • How to cook
  • How to read
  • The love of dancing
  • The love of music
  • To love the Gospel
  • To serve others
  • How to smile
  • How to hide the good treats so you can eat them at your pleasure
  • How to butter the popcorn the best
  • How to make Butter Syrup (which has since affected many many lives)
  • How to love
  • How to be a supportive wife
  • How to realize my divine potential
  • How to be a friend
  • How to work
  • How to laugh
  • To respect others

The list could go on and on because I'm pretty sure that anything important my mother taught me!

The First Pictures

These are the first pictures of I'm sure many, many, many more to come! Yes, we are finally pregnant! We are so excited and it has been a long road, but we couldn't be happier. I just love my little baby and I could stare at these pictures all day. When we got the ultrasound I got choked up in my throat to see my baby moving around, see the heart beat, and then to hear the heartbeat! I am 13 1/2 weeks and can't believe it, I keep thinking that time is going by way too fast! We are due November 7th, and we will find out what we are having in about 7 weeks!

This picture above is my absolute FAVORITE one! I am carrying it around with me everywhere (I know silly). I love it because you can see the little leg, feet, hand, body, and the shadow of the eyes and nose. It also looks like my little baby decided to look right at me and wave! Hi mommy! Hi Daddy! That's my little baby! It is absolutely amazing to me! You would be this crazy and obsessed if it had taken you as long to get where I am! I know some of you it has or even longer! I want to find the joy in every minute of being pregnant! I think I am doing a pretty good job. Ask me in a few months I guess (then I may be miserable). Having waited for so long and prayed and fasted for so long I have a new found appreciation for this miracle. I thank my loving Heavenly Father every day, and thank him that he knows what is best for us (even though we may not realize it). Did I mention how excited I am!

Some are saying baby is a girl because of the heart rate. We will see! I am honestly quite glad that I don't know what baby is because I have an obsessive spending and shopping habit, and can't pass up a great deal!

Did I mention that we are so excited! Well if not, we are so so so SO SO SO EXCITED! Every night Ezra will kiss my tummy and say "Good night" or "I love you baby" I know that our baby is only the size of a lime, but I think it is still so sweet! Yeah!
