Deciding what to post..oh I got it...a birthday tribute!
I was thinking, I really need to post....and then I thought....I have nothing really interesting to post about. So, I'm just posting to post. Also wondering how many times I can use the word post...or maybe it's late and I'm tired. Well, let's see.... I can't believe that January has come and gone, in fact, I find it absolutely disgusting. Where did it go? What did I get done? Well, I went back to school, and for some reason my students have been driving me absolutely nuts this last week. I try to be patient, but then I find myself feeling sorry for them, for having an irritable teacher. Maybe it's PMS...if not, I'll blame it on it anyway.
I actually had two Saturdays off this month. That was definitely nice for a change! I found myself thinking I should quit because having Saturdays off and being able to clean or lounge and just spend time with my amazing wonderful husband is really REALLY nice. However, I feel an obligation so I won't be quitting anytime soon. Plus I get a super awesome discount. I just hope the every other week thing sticks.
Oh I just thought of something to post, and it's going to be long.
My cousin Jenny celebrated her 27th birthday on January 26th. Although I don't think you keep track once your on the other side. Jenny passed away almost 7 years ago. I can't believe its been that long. I still remember the horrible news like it was yesterday, thank you to my wonderful college roomies for helping me through it! However, instead of dwelling on that sad, difficult day, I will post about Jenny. Jenny and I were "best cousin friends" growing up. We were going to go to college and be roommates, but our plans changed since neither of us wanted to go to Ricks when college actually came around. Jenny is beautiful and we had lots of fun together. I remember she even got to come to school one day with me (I don't think they would allow that now). Jenny developed a lot quicker than I, and I remember her asking me "When are you going to get boobs?" when we were in the 8th grade. I think I told her, "Probably never." Glad to know I was right. Some memories of Jenny:
- making up a dance to the "Leader of the Pack"
- being jealous when she brought friends to the family reunion
- driving way too fast off the IF off ramp singing "How Bizarre"
- checking out guys in Grandma's ward only to be told "He's your cousin. Yep him too" I swear we were related to everyone. The fact we were trying to check out guys there is even scarier.
- Riding horses
- Attempting to make my dad's fudge, but the candy thermometer was broken and we ended up chiseling it off of Rena's new countertops...oops
- Making a suicide tortilla (what were we thinking...I was the pickiest eater in the world) we put everything we could find on these tortillas and then microwaved them...disgusting...then we buried them at the bottom of the trash so we wouldn't get in trouble for wasting them
- Burying a cracked egg (bird egg, snake egg, not so sure) on Uncle Steve's cattle farm...we even held a small funeral for it with a prayer, song, and everything else
- Sleeping in tents on Grandma's lawn
- Sleeping on the floor when Grandma's power went out all night
- Talking all night long about everything
- Sleepovers at the old house, sleepovers at the new house, sleepovers at Grandma's
- Rollerblading at the school
- Going to Justin's or maybe Shaun's rodeo (being bored to death), Grandma telling us we were going to fall out the back window in the van even though our leg couldn't even fit through it...silly Grandma
- Talking on the phone in college
I love you lots and miss you more Jenny! Jenny you brought such a happy spirit everywhere. Happy Late Birthday! I know you are working extra hard on the other side! I will do my part here so I can see you one day!
I just found these letters from when were 13 years old. More for me than anyone, but they made me laugh especially the one about being abducted by aliens. :) Funny Jenny!
